Chester Festival Chorus

2018 Vivaldi Gloria and Handel Dixit Dominus Concert 15th July 2018 at Storyhouse Theatre

Chester Festival Chorus make their Storyhouse debut with a duo of popular works from the Italian Baroque, joined by their new choral director Elspeth Slorach, soprano soloists Charlotte Trepess and Lizzy Humphries, alto Lucy Vallis, tenor Timothy Peters, bass James Berry and Storyhouse’s very own Ensemble Deva.

Handel’s vibrant, energetic Dixit Dominus was written for an Italian patron when the composer was only 22 and living in Italy.  Quote from Elspeth Slorach: If you think you know everything about Handel from hearing his Messiah, Dixit Dominus will make you think again!

Completing the programme is Vivaldi’s Gloria, written for the girls of the Pietà in Venice in 1715, and now a favourite with choirs and audiences alike the world over.
