We are sorry to report the passing, in hospital, of our friend & staunch supporter, Roger. He has joined the bass voices &/or instrumentalists (with bass & alto curtals) at numerous NWEMF workshops over very many years. His principal EMF, however, was the Midland group. He is also known to have played bassoon & contrabassoon with the Chester Philharmonic Orchestra.
Other courses that he patronised were Beauchamp Early Music week at Malvern College and its successor Gloucestershire Academy of Music Adult Early Music Course. A local instrumental group that he has enriched with his unfailing support is Sale Cornetts & Sackbuts. He leaves his wife, Marie, a soprano and loyal NWEMF member, and fond memories of his music making, good conversation and humour.
