Workshop Report – 9 November 2024

An overcast day in Lancaster heralded a wonderful workshop led by Clive Walkley, who enjoys a long-time association with NWEMF, including a spell as Chair. This was his last workshop, and it proved to be a very memorable one as we focused on the wonderful and rhythmically challenging music of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla. We covered mostly double choir repertoire, with instruments doubling the voice parts adding both depth and richness to the sound, and it was so enjoyable that I forgot to take any photos of the day itself. However, we are indebted to Rosy Martin for providing the delicious lemon drizzle cake for the afternoon break. For more information about the music we covered, click here, and here’s a link to one of the pieces we sang, Ave regina caelorum. Thanks once again to Clive for a wonderful day of music-making, and for all your support over the years. The full workshop report will be published in a future Newsletter.
