The venue is very close to the Didsbury Village Metrolink tram stop. Parking is roadside & not usually a problem. On this occasion the workshop is for singers in all voice ranges, and players of violins, cornetts, sackbuts, curtals, recorders (tenor downwards), viols or lutes.

The Tutor
Virtuoso historical trombonist Stephanie Dyer enjoys an international career as early musician, modern performer and educator. Born and raised in South Wales, Stephanie studied at King’s College, Cambridge, the Royal Academy of Music, London and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Switzerland. She performs with world-renowned historic brass group His Majesty’s Sagbutts & Cornetts, of which she has been a member since 2016, and with other such acclaimed ensembles as Academy of Ancient Music (GB), Il Giardino Armonico (Italy) and Camerata Lipsiensis (Germany). She was also co-principal trombone of Swiss orchestra Orchestre Musique des Lumières (2017–20) and became a founder member of Blackadder Baroque Brass in 2021. A devoted teacher, Stephanie is Baroque Trombone professor at RAM, teaches trombone at the University of Cambridge and is a passionate workshop leader.
The Music
Jakob Handl wa a prolific Slovenian composer of polychoral works, who resided in Austria, Moravia and Bohemia. He was amongst the most highly regarded and skilful contrapuntalists of his time, as clearly demonstrated in the four-volume publication Opus musicum, printed in Prague 1586, 1587, 1587 and 1590 respectively. This impressive and significant collection comprises small- and large-scale motets for the entire liturgical year – 374 works in total – ranging from four to 24 voices.
