On 20 April 2024 in Preston, we held a workshop on 17th century German music with Gawain Glenton as tutor. The program included music by composers such as Melchior Franck, Sigmund Theophil Staden, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Andreas Berger, Michael Praetorius, and Heinrich Schutz. As well as plenty of playing lots of wonderful music in choirs or singers and instrumentalists, the historical context of the music was explored. The venue, Fulwood Methodist Church, had plenty of space with a good kitchen (always important!) All who came along enjoyed the day, as it gave NWEMF members a chance to learn and perform more of this rich treasure of early music. To find out about becoming a NWEMF member, click here.
Workshop Report – 20 April 2024, Preston

Its a joy to have the previous Early Music workshops to look back on and future programmes to anticipate .My enthusiasm about NWEMF with local musician frIends who were unaware of this great practical forum sparked interest! Im working on it!
Preston venue under tutor Gawain Glenton was so enjoyable and Stephanie Dyer’s Didsbury workshop also stimulating and satisfying to play and sing together.
Thankyou so much to all the organisation team.
