North West Early Music Forum
Minutes of Annual General Meeting
Saturday 30 April 2022, beginning at 12.40 pm.
0. The previous Chairman having recently resigned for personal reasons, President David Allen took the chair.
1. Apologies for absence: Martin Steward, Roger Wilkes, Bob Foster, Rona Courtney, Susie and Roger Greenwood, Clive Walkley, Rhoda Bramhall, Becky Ford, Andy Coatsworth, Jenny Walsh.
2. Minutes of the AGM held 17 April 2021, proposed by Tim Gannicliffe, seconded by Janet Evans and Peter Syrus; accepted.
3. There were no matters arising from those Minutes.
4. In the absence of a Chairman, there was no formal Chairman’s report. The year was summarised: NWEMF has survived the last two years and resumed in-person workshops in September 2021.
5. The Treasurer’s Report was circulated. NWEMF has a healthy bank balance. There was no movement in the Joan Wess fund. Proposed by John Huthnance, seconded by John Davies; approved.
6. Workshops so far planned for 2022-2023 were as listed below. Suggestions were invited (at the time and any time in future).
7. Election of Officers:
a. Chair. Tim Gannicliffe offered. John Huthnance proposed, Ruth Stock seconded; agreed nem. con
b. Secretary. John Huthnance was willing to continue. Agreed nem. con.
c. Treasurer. Martin Steward was willing to continue. Agreed nem. con.
8. Election of Committee Members: Elizabeth Dodd, Bob Foster, Peter Syrus and Jenny Walsh were willing to continue and were agreed nem. con. there being no other nominations. Nominations are still welcome; there are four vacancies.
9. Safeguarding policy. This is presently in draft. The committee will need to finalise this, specifically to appoint a Designated Person to record and appropriately refer concerns. It was suggested that use be made of existing (eg. church) protocols. Ruth Stock offered to help.
10. Other Business. The large reserve of cash was queried. Expenditure is restricted to our charitable purposes. In the near future losses on events are likely to reduce the balance. On a previous occasion a weekend course used up some reserve.
The Committee was thanked for sustaining NWEMF activities.
