Our member, John Greenhalgh, an experienced instrument maker, has a clavichord which he would be happy to loan out to NWEMF members and musician friends, students etc, with the option to purchase at cost if desired. He gives the following information:
It’s 132cm long and can be carried under one arm.
The compass is E-a2, about 42 notes, you can play all the Bach chorales on it.
Any other information can be supplied.
If you know of anyone who need to practice quietly this would be ideal. There are pickups mounted on the soundboard for more volume. The quietness of the sound could also be a great advantage in limited student lodgings. To help with tuning, John could supply the tuning-lever and there are free tuning meter apps available to download. John has other instruments which may be of interest as well.
